Figured Id share a checklist of things to do for SEO on each page on your site. First, make sure you get the major tags filled with your keywords for that page:

<title>
<h1>,<h2>…<h6>
<alt> tag for images
<title> attribute (different from tag) for your tags
<a>…</a> anchor text for internal links
<meta> tags for description and keywords – less important, but it takes all of 2 minutes, so why not

While not as specific for on page, make sure your urls are optimized. You shouldn’t have a url that ends in *.php?id=3. Use mod_rewrite to optimize that to something that describes the page using keywords.

And most importantly, content! Make sure you have original, quality content with your keywords in it. While the tags are important, they are pointless without the content that matches.
